NEWMAC Cross Country Awards Recap, MIT's Taylor Tabbed Coach of the Year
BOSTON, Mass - After a successful NEWMAC Cross Country Championship for the MIT Engineers, head coach, Halston Taylor has been tabbed as Coach of the Year for both the men and women. Taylor helped guide the men's program to their 19th consecutive title while the women garnered their 10th straight crown.
The Engineers were lead by NEWMAC Runners of the Year Matt Deyo and Megan McCandless. McCandles also took home the Rookie of the Year accolade with Josh Derrick. NEWMAC Cross Country All-Conference Teams are decided based on finish at the NEWMAC Championships. On the men's side the top 14 finishers earn a spot while on the women's side the top 17 finishers garner the honor.
New to the conference this year, the NEWMAC has established an All-Sportsmanship Team for the 2016-17 Academic Year. The award is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of his/her overall performance or statistics for the season. The cross country honorees are listed below.
