NEWMAC Announces 2009 Womens Cross Country Post-Season Award Winners
BABSON PARK, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2009 women's cross country award
winners on Wednesday. After guiding his Wellesley squad to a
runner-up finish at last weekend's NEWMAC Championship,
John Babington was named NEWMAC
Coach of the Year. Babington's Blue also received the league's
Sportsmanship Award. At Saturday's NEWMAC championship, a pair of
MIT runners swept the individual accolades. Top overall finisher,
Maria Monks (Hazelton, Pa.), was named the NEWMAC
Runner of the Year while teammate Brooke Johnson
(Shoreham, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Year honors.
