Athlete of the Week- Robbie Lamond (So., OF), Wheaton College
Sophomore Robbie Lamond (North Kingstown, R.I.) was nearly impossible to retire at the plate, hitting .800 (8-10) with a walk and a hits-batsmen to contribute to an eye-popping .833 on-base percentage in addition to smacking a pair of doubles and a triple to produce a robust 1.300 slugging mark as part of an unthinkable 2.133 OPS. He also knocked in three runs, stole a pair of bases and scored four times from the leadoff spot in the lineup. The sophomore began the week by going 2-4 with a double, a run scored, a run batted in and a stolen base in a 6-2 win over Framingham State University on March 8. He followed that up by becoming the fourth player in school history and the first since 2009 to collect a school-record six hits in a game, going 6-6 at Tufts University with a pair of doubles, a triple, a walk, a stolen base, two RBI and three runs scored in a 14-11 win over the Jumbos.
