MIT Named Preseason Favorites in Women's Cross Country Coaches' Poll

WESTWOOD, Mass. – The NEWMAC is looking forward to the 2017 Women's Cross Country season after great performances in 2016. After claiming the programs 10 consecutive conference crown last year MIT has been named the preseason favorites with 10 first place votes while WPI follows being slated at No. 2.

After finishing second at the championship last season, Wellesley earned the No. 3 nod followed up No. 4 Coast Guard, No. 5 Smith and No. 6 Wheaton who earned one first place vote. Rounding out the remaining slots is No. 7 Springfield, No. 8 Clark, Babson and Mount Holyoke tied at No. 9 with Emerson at No. 11. 

The 2017 season will welcome back 10 All-Conference winners, four All-Region honorees and one All-American in MIT's Megan McCandless who also finished 2016 as the NEWMAC Rookie and Runner of the Year.
