NEWMAC Announces 2018 Women's Track and Field Preseason Poll, MIT Named Favorites

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2018 Women's Track and Field Preseason Poll results on Tuesday afternoon. After claiming the programs 10th overall conference crown last season the MIT Engineers have been tabbed as the favorites garnering eight first place votes. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted by the nine head women's track and field coaches.

Claiming the No. 2 slot with one first place vote is WPI who finished second in last seasons championship they are followed by No. 3 Wheaton, No. 4 Coast Guard and No. 5 Springfield. Rounding out the remaining four spots is No. 6 Wellesley, No. 7 Smith, No. 8 Babson and No. 9 Mount Holyoke.

The NEWMAC will welcome back student-athletes that compiled 27 All-Conference honors, an impressive 48 All-New England honors and five All-Americans in 2017. The 2017 Co-Rookies of the Year, Coast Guard's Adora Lawrence and MIT's Michelle Menkiti will also return.
