NEWMAC Releases 2019 Women's Tennis Postseason Awards

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released the 2019 Women's Tennis Postseason Awards and All-Sportsmanship honorees on Wednesday.

Wheaton's Ines de Bracamonte was voted the 2019 Athlete of the Year, after producing an impressive senior campaign. At No. 1 Singles, de Bracamonte went undefeated in NEWMAC play and only dropped one set.

MIT's Viktoriya Tabunshchyk earned the title of 2019 Rookie of the Year. The first-year went 6-0 at No. 2 Singles and was a part of the Engineers' No. 1 Doubles team that went 8-0.

MIT's Head Coach Carol Matsuzaki was voted the 2019 Coach of the Year, after leading the Engineers to a 16-3 overall record, including wins over nationally-ranked teams, and a perfect 8-0 mark in league play.

The NEWMAC Women's Tennis All-Conference Team includes nine first team and second team selections of singles and doubles teams, which are voted on by the nine women's tennis coaches.

Also being recognized are the nine women's tennis student-athletes that were named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The award is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of his/her overall performance or statistics for the season.
