NEWMAC Releases 2018 Women's Lacrosse Postseason Awards

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released the 2018 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference team and major awards on Tuesday afternoon. After helping lead MIT to a share of the NEWMAC regular season crown, Emily Young was named the Offensive Player of the Year while her teammate Katie Notaragelo was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Notarangelo shares the honors with Babson's Maria Bravo who also helped pave the Beavers to a share of the regular season title before Babson took home the crown this past weekend. Helping the Coast Guard Bears to a 12-7 record with her 60 goals, Brenna Farrington was named the Rookie of the Year.

Leading Coast Guard to the most successful season in program history head coach, Mary Henenberry was voted the 2018 Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year. The Bears finished the season at 12-7 (4-4), while earning their first berth to the NEWMAC Championship where they advanced to the semifinals.

The women's lacrosse all-conference team consists of 13 first team and 12 second team selections which are voted on by the nine head coaches.

Also being recognized are the nine women's lacrosse student-athletes that were named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The award is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of his/her overall performance or statistics for the season.
