MIT Earns No. 1 Spot in Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) is looking forward to another outstanding season for the league's 11 women's basketball programs. The NEWMAC revealed the 2018-19 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll, after a competitive preseason vote that saw three teams earn first place votes.

MIT, the reigning NEWMAC Champion, claimed the top spot with seven first place votes, followed by Babson in the No. 2 spot with one first place vote and Smith in the No. 3 spot with three first place votes, as both the Beavers and the Pioneers earned a share of the regular season title last season. Springfield comes in at No. 4, followed by WPI, who also shared an earnings of the regular season title in 2018, at No. 5 and Emerson at No. 6. Rounding out the final five rankings are No. 7 Wellesley, No. 8 Coast Guard, No. 9 Clark, No. 10 Wheaton and No. 11 Mount Holyoke.

The 2018-19 season welcomes back nine All-Conference selections and four All-Region honorees (Payton Ouimette, Babson; Kara Holinski, MIT; Taylor V'Dovec, MIT; Kennedy Guest-Pritchett, Smith). The NEWMAC returns the 2018 Co-Athlete of the Year in Guest-Pritchett, along with the 2018 Rookie of the Year in MIT's Kylie Gallagher.
