BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced seeds and pairings for the 2017 Women's Basketball Championship on Saturday, following the conclusion of the regular season. Babson secured the regular season title and will serve as the top overall seed and hosting rights for the conference championship, which begins on Wednesday.
After going 14-2 in conference play, the Beavers, will receive a first-round bye and host the semifinals and championship game next Saturday and Sunday, February 25 - February 26. With a three way tie for the second seed, Springfield (13-3) rises to the No.2 slot through the tiebreaking procedure while WPI (13-3) takes the No.3 seed after defeating No.4 seed MIT (13-3) in regular season head to head competition.
Finishing at 9-7 Smith takes the No.5 seed while No.6 Coast Guard (8-8) and No.7 Clark (6-10) take the final two slots.
First round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, February 25 while championship game will be played next Sunday.
