NEWMAC Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week

Giovanna Pickering, Babson (Senior, Hull, Mass.)

Pickering averaged 15.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.8 steals to help Babson win three of four games over the holiday break. She finished with eight points, 11 boards, four assists and three steals in a 61-59 OT victory over Emory & Henry on December 20 and then followed it up with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 62-50 win over Mount Saint Mary on December 21 in Daytona Beach. Pickering scored 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting in Thursday's 74-59 victory against Salisbury, and wrapped up the week with 15 points, and four rebounds in a 70-62 loss to UMass Dartmouth. 

 

NEWMAC Women's Basketball Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week

Ama Biney, WPI (Junior, Worcester, Mass.)

Biney was a force to be reckoned with this past weekend in the WPI Holiday Tournament. She received MVP honors for averaging 17.5 points, nine rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 4.5 steals. In the championship contest against Wesleyan, Biney logged seven points and six rebounds, two assists and an impressive baseline swipe in just the fourth quarter. Including the trip to Bates, Biney averaged 15.3 points, eight rebounds and 4.3 steals. It marks the third Tournament MVP award of the season for the junior guard.

NEWMAC Women's Basketball Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week

Jennifer Narlee, Babson (Senior, Medfield, Mass.)

Narlee continued to make an impact on the defensive end as she averaged 9.5 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 1.0 blocks as Babson went 3-1 over the holiday break. The senior forward had 10 boards, six steals and two blocks in a two-point OT win over Emory & Henry on December 20, and followed it up with 10 rebounds and one steal against Mount Saint Mary to wrap up a 2-0 trip to Daytona Beach. Narlee had eight boards, two steals and one block in Thursday's win over Salisbury and then contributed 10 rebounds, four steals and one block in Friday's loss to UMass Dartmouth.
