INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division III Field Hockey Committee announced today the field of 24 teams that will compete in the 2018 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship. Seventeen conferences have been awarded automatic qualification for their champions into the 2018 championship with seven earning At-Large nods. Smith earned the automatic bid and will represent the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
The Smith College field hockey team will head to No. 9 Montclair State University on Wednesday, November 7 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.

The Pioneers (14-7) won the program's first-ever New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title on Saturday with a 2-1 overtime victory against MIT. The Red Hawks (15-3) earned an at-large bid after falling to The College of New Jersey in the semifinals of the NJAC Field Hockey Championship on October 31.
The winner of Wednesday's match will face No. 4 Tufts (16-2) in the second round at Salisbury University in Maryland on Saturday, November 10.
