NEWMAC Men's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Athlete of the Week
Packy Witkowski, Coast Guard (Jr., G - Melrose, Mass.)
Witkowski averaged 26 points and nine rebounds per game as the Bears won the Shenandoah Tournament. He had 32 points and six rebounds in a 99-87 win over Shenandoah before scoring 26 points and grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds, 11 of the 12 were defensive rebounds, in the championship game 95-86 OT win over Eastern of Pa. He hit a game tying 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left in regulation of the championship game as the Bears won in OT. He shot 40.5 percent from the field (17-42), connected on 7 of 16 from behind the arc in the two wins and earned a double-double.
NEWMAC Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week
Payton Ouimette, Babson (Sr., F - Medfield, Mass.)
Ouimette posted two double-doubles and averaged 14.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.3 steals while shooting 54.5 percent in three wins over the holiday break. The senior forward finished with 11 points, 17 rebounds and four assists in a 70-51 victory over Cal Lutheran, and followed it up with 17 points, 11 boards, two assists and three steals in a 71-55 rout of Plattsburgh in Miami on December 18-19. Ouimette scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go along with nine rebounds as the Beavers won the first of two games at the Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament over Salve Regina, 99-58, on Sunday.
NEWMAC Women's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week
Kennedy Guest-Pritchett, Smith (Sr., F - Fairburn, Ga.)
Guest-Pritchett recorded her sixth double-double of the year with her 14 point, 18 rebound performance in Smith's 72-67 win over TCNJ on December 30. Guest-Pritchett was a key factor on the defensive end, finishing with 15 defensive rebounds, one steal and one block as the Pioneers erased a 17-point second-half deficit. Guest-Pritchett and the Smith defense limited the TCNJ offense to 36.2 field goal percentage and 28.6 three-point percentage.
