NEWMAC Football Offensive Athlete of the Week

Brice Moore, Merchant Marine (Sr, QB, Pace, Fla.)

Moore led all rushers in the Mariners' 62-27 victory over Catholic on Saturday with 104 yards and found the end zone twice on the day. He also completed two passes on three attempts for 115 yards to finish with a total offense of 219 yards in the game. The quarterback lead an offensive unit that went 75% on third down efficiency and was successful on both tries on fourth down while breaking a 57-year old program record putting up 62 points in the game.

NEWMAC Football Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week

Mitch Turley, MIT (Sr, DB, Westfield, Ind.)

In a 20-0 Senior Day shutout win over Norwich, Turley led the Engineers with 10 tackles that included nine solo stops. He also had a 34-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown to go along with an interception and a pass breakup as the Engineers pitched the shutout in the first meeting between the two teams.

NEWMAC Football Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week

Dereck Pacheco, WPI (Sr, DL, Barnstable, Mass.)

Pacheco amassed 10 tackles including eight solo stops, to go with a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a blocked PAT on special teams as the Engineers defeated Coast Guard for the program's fifth consecutive win of the season. It is the longest streak since the 1993 Freedom Football Conference championship campaign. Personally, the senior now has 103 solo tackles, and 159 overall, to his credit.

NEWMAC Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week

Spencer Herrington, WPI (Jr, K/P, Clearfield, Pa.)

Herrington remains perfect in extra points with a 6-for-6 performance for the Engineers who ran their winning-streak to five games following a triumph over Coast Guard on Saturday. He ended the week atop the kicking column with 63 points on the year, which is also fifth in the conference among all student-athletes. Herrington was called upon only twice to punt the ball away, including one that landed inside the 20.

NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

Matt Shriner, WPI (Arlington, Mass.)

Shriner captured the 200-yard butterfly and both distance freestyle events as WPI knocked off RPI 171-129 Saturday, ending the visiting Engineers 19 dual meet winning-streak that dates back to 2015. The rookie won the 200 fly (1:59.36) for the second time in less than 24 hours and touched the wall first in the 1,000-yard (10:05.75) and 500-yard freestyle (4:54.53). He clocked a 1:59.91 to take Friday's 200 fly in a meet that saw WPI sweep Babson and Brandeis.

NEWMAC Men's Relay of the Week

In a dual meet with conference foe Wheaton over the weekend the Bears 200 medley relay team of Patrick Jackson, Chasse Sodemann, Ross Garrett and Joe Rodriguez won with a time of 1:35.40, the fastest in the event in 15 years at the Academy.

NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week

Jenny Day, WPI (Chelmsford, Mass.)

Day collected three individual victories in less than 24 hours, and was part of an impressive 400-yard medley relay team that kicked off the Engineers weekend with a dominant performance as a foursome and as individuals on Friday night en route to defeating Babson, Smith and Brandeis. In addition to anchoring the relay which turned in a time of 4:11.28, Day secured the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.44) and touched the wall first in the 400-yard IM (4:50.20). On Saturday as the team halted Simmons 15 dual meet winning-streak, as Day won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:12.97.

NEWMAC Women's Diver of the Week

Deborah Wen, MIT (Honolulu, Hawaii)

In her collegiate debut, MIT freshman Deborah Wen came in first place on both boards with scores of 266.02 (1-meter) and 284.10 (3-meter) which helped the Engineers defeat NEWMAC foe Springfield by a 195.5-99.5 final score on Saturday. Wen's scores were also well above the NCAA Division III Diving Regional qualifying mark which capped off her debut in style.

The 400-yard medley relay set the tone as the WPI women's swimming & diving team had the best performance in every swimming event in a sweep of Babson, Smith and Brandeis Friday night. The foursome of sophomore Sydney Seo sophomore Emma Edwardson, freshman Audrey Berner and senior Jenny Day won in a time of 4:11.28.
